Uncontrolled Diabetes with Underlying Structural Changes in the Atrioventricular Node

چکیده
Diabetic cardiomyopathy, characterized by diabetes mellitus (DM) -induced cardiac muscular abnormalities, is a strong inducer of impaired contraction and arrhythmia. Atrioventricular block, serious type arrhythmia resulting from interruption impulse conduction via the atrioventricular node (AVN), frequently occurs among diabetic patients. However, details structural changes in AVN DM remain poorly explained. Here, this study defined effects on morphological remodeling male Sprague Dawley rats induced intraperitoneal injection streptozotocin (60 mg/kg body weight). At 24 weeks, pathological were assessed light microscopy (LM) transmission electron (TEM). Under LM, became less compact mass exhibited intracellular vacuolation. The nodal cells more varied sizes with absence or shrinkage nuclei clear cytoplasm compared to control. collagen content significantly increased relation presence myofibroblasts. Consistent TEM images revealed several signs cell damage, such as mitochondrial changes, deterioration organelles, gap junction internalization, separation. Furthermore, innervation, evidenced damaged Schwann axons, also found. These results indicated alterations important components during condition, which may lead impairment electrical conduction, causing abnormal functions

Histological study of the atrioventricular node and bundle in the heart of ovine fetus
This study was conducted on the atrioventricular node (AVN) and atrioventricular bundle (AVB) of fivefour-month-old ovine fetuses. The histological structure of these components was studied by routinehistological techniques and use of specific staining methods. The AVN was caudally located adjacent to theroot of the aorta. It was almost spherical in shape and consisted of twisty cells. The node...
متن کاملMultiple anterograde atrioventricular node pathways in patients with atrioventricular node reentrant tachycardia.
OBJECTIVES This study sought to investigate electrophysiologic characteristics and possible anatomic sites of multiple anterograde slow atrioventricular (AV) node pathways and to compare these findings with those in dual anterograde AV node pathways. BACKGROUND Although multiple anterograde AV node pathways have been demonstrated by the presence of multiple discontinuities in the AV node cond...
متن کاملMesothelioma of the atrioventricular node.
A patient with Mobitz type 2 heart block caused by a mesothelioma of the atrioventricular node died of a subarachnoid haemorrhage at the age of 33 two years after implantation of a permanent pacemaker. Mesothelioma of the atrioventricular node is rare, and reported cases have all been diagnosed post mortem. Mesothelioma of the atrioventricular node should be considered in the differential diagn...
متن کاملStructural characteristics of Koch's triangle in patients with atrioventricular node reentrant tachycardia.
The aim of this study is to investigate whether patients with atrioventricular node reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) present different structural characteristics of Koch's triangle from patients with atrioventricular (AV) reentrant tachycardia and other control patients. Fifty-eight patients with arrhythmia or chest pain underwent selective coronary sinus angiography so that the diameter of the co...

A 37 year old male with a history of peptic ulcer disease presented to the emergency room with nausea and vomiting. He reported two recent episodes of syncope, but denied other associated symptoms including palpitations, hematemesis, melena, chest pain, or dyspnea. He reported recent use of marijuana, but denied use of cocaine or methamphetamines. The patient reported similar symptoms in 2006 w...
